Passengers
in Northern Ireland will once again be able to avail of direct flights to
Doncaster-Sheffield Airport thanks to a new arrival at George Best Belfast City
Airport.
The service between Belfast City
Airport and Robin Hood Doncaster-Sheffield Airport will be operated by UK
regional airline, LinksAir, and will commence on Friday 11th April
2014.
Not only
is this route great for business with 2 flights per day allowing a day of
meetings before returning to Belfast, it also offers a new exciting
holiday option.
Location location location
You can
access the whole of Yorkshire by flying into Doncaster Sheffield.
The
airport is about 26 miles from the centre of Sheffield, it takes about 40
minutes by car at the moment (by the end of 2015 a new road link will reduce the
journey time by 15 minutes).
Sheffield
is a bustling city (the 4th largest in England) with the
biggest theatre complex outside London. There is a vibrant music, shopping and
cultural scene. It is also very close to the beautiful Peak District.
Doncaster
is famous for its racecourse and attracts over 60,000 people to its 4 day St
Leger meet.
The St
Leger is the oldest of the classic races in the UK having first been run all
the way back in 1776.
Yorkshire
is hosting the Grand Depart – Tour de France this year and stage 2 begins in York and
finishes in Sheffield on 6th July.
